Thalassery Fort

Thalassery Fort

Thalassery Fort is a monumental structure built by the British East India Company in 1708, serving as a vital military and trade post on the Malabar Coast. The fort’s architecture features strong laterite stone walls, massive carved doors, and secret tunnels leading to the sea, reflecting the European colonial influence. Its commanding position overlooking the Arabian Sea offers picturesque views, particularly at sunset. The fort compound also houses an ancient lighthouse and the remnants of the Governor’s Bungalow. Today, it is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and stands as a powerful symbol of Thalassery’s rich colonial history. It is an ideal spot for history buffs and photographers.
